Shining a Light on Lung Health: Join Us for National Lung Cancer Screening Day

At Diagnostic Imaging Northwest, we’re proud to support National Lung Cancer Screening Day on Saturday, November 8, 2025, by offering convenient weekend Low-Dose CT (LDCT) lung cancer screenings — because catching lung cancer early can save lives.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S., but early detection can make all the difference. LDCT is a simple, fast, and non-invasive scan that looks for early signs of lung cancer before symptoms appear — when treatment is most effective.

What Is Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening?

LDCT uses advanced imaging technology to capture detailed pictures of your lungs, detecting small nodules or abnormalities that a standard chest X-ray might miss. It’s especially important for those at higher risk due to smoking history or other risk factors — even if you feel perfectly healthy.

A few key facts:

  • Quick: The scan takes just a few minutes.
  • Painless: No injections, no prep, no recovery time.
  • Potentially lifesaving: Detects lung cancer early, often before it spreads.

What Happens After the Scan?

  • If your scan is normal: That’s great news. No immediate action is needed, but most patients return for another screening in one year.
  • If a lung nodule is found: Don’t panic. Over 95% of lung nodules are benign (non-cancerous). Your provider may recommend follow-up imaging, continued monitoring, or in rare cases, a biopsy.

Who Should Be Screened?

You may qualify for LDCT screening if you:

  • Are between 50 and 80 years old (some insurance plans only cover up to age 77)
  • Have a 20 pack-year smoking history (1 pack/day for 20 years, or 2 packs/day for 10 years)
  • Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years
  • Have no symptoms of lung disease
  • Have a signed referral from your provider
  • Participate in shared decision-making with your provider, including smoking cessation guidance

Lung cancer often develops without symptoms. LDCT lung cancer screening is one of the most effective ways to detect lung cancer early, when it’s most treatable.

This November, take a step toward protecting your health. Schedule your LDCT screening, and encourage friends and family members who may qualify to do the same.

Diagnostic Imaging Northwest is here to support early detection — because early action can save lives.
