Patient Connection (Portal)
Patient Connection 2.0
Your upgraded unified patient portal experience.
Our Patient Connection portal is receiving an upgrade starting today, November 24. This exciting update introduces several new features and improvements, and we want to ensure you have all the information you need to navigate these changes with confidence.
We are pleased to announce the release of Patient Connection 2.0, an enhanced version of our patient portal that provides a more streamlined, mobile-friendly experience. The upgraded platform works seamlessly with both the TRA and DINW Mobile Apps, offering a single, consistent way to sign in across the browser-based portal and the mobile app.
Patient Connection continues to offer the tools you rely on, including appointment scheduling, access to medical records, and online bill pay. Patient Connection 2.0 expands on these features with improved account management options and new ways to share or request access to health information.
Existing Features
Patient Connection allows patients to schedule and cancel appointments, view appointment details such as preparation instructions, arrival times, and location information, and complete registration forms in advance. Patients can also check in for appointments, view reports and images, and pay bills through the portal. All existing features remain available in Patient Connection 2.0.
New Capabilities in Patient Connection 2.0
Patient Connection 2.0 introduces several enhancements designed to provide greater flexibility, improved security, and a more intuitive user experience. The updated browser-based site is fully mobile-friendly, making it easier to use across smartphones, tablets, and computers.
All patients are now required to create a registered account to log in. A unique mobile phone number serves as the username, and each mobile number can be linked to only one account. Patients may log in using either a password or a passwordless method using an SMS verification code once an account has been created. Support for email-based login will be added in the future, and an email field is available during registration in preparation for this update. Patients who have never visited TRA or DINW may create a new patient account during the registration process.
Give Access
Patient Connection 2.0 now allows patients to grant account access to another registered Patient Connection user, such as a family member or caregiver. This feature enables authorized individuals to view medical records and assist with scheduling, check-in, and navigation of the patient’s portal.
To give access, patients can log in, go to the Account section, and complete the “Invite Authorized User” form. The information provided must match the invited user’s medical account exactly; otherwise, the access request will not be successful. Once approved, the authorized user will appear in the patient’s account access list. Patients may revoke access at any time, and all activity by authorized users is tracked in the activity log. Authorized users can switch between viewing their own account and the account of the patient who granted access.
Request Access
The Request Access feature allows a registered Patient Connection user to request access to another patient’s information. This process is particularly useful for parents, guardians, and caregivers.
To request access, the requesting user must be listed in the patient’s medical account “Add Family Member” section with permission to access information as completed by our staff. The information entered in the Request Access form must match the medical account record precisely. If the information is missing or incorrect, the user will receive an error message. Once the request is approved, the user can log in and select the patient’s account to view their information.
Account Registration Notes
Each patient may have only one registered account per mobile phone number, and users must register under either TRA or DINW. Both systems share the same patient information, so there is no need to register twice. While the branding may differ, the portal content and functionality are identical.
